Gordon Blue Restaurant, Pernera, Cyprus
G Kouzalis LLC, Internationally renowned Cypriot Lawfirm, recently visited The Gordon Blue Restaurant. It is situated towards to top of the Pernera Bar area and is an international cuisine restaurant, owned by Maria and Pavlos Georgiou.
Pavlos father; Andreas trained as a chef in the UK before returning to Cyprus and opening the Gordon Blue Restaurant. Now his son Pavlos and daughter in law Maria run this fantastic restaurant and it is staffed entirely of family members. Andreas and Maria and Pavlos are the chefs behind the mouth watering dishes whilst Maria and her daughter Zafira serve the customers with the best level of Cypriot hospitality. You will not see a finer example of the traditional family orientated culture than here.
The restaurant is clean, tidy and well proportioned and the service is outstanding.
The food is always of an exceptional quality; made with the freshest, highest quality materials and with love and attention and never fails to satisfy the customers (the continuous stream of empty plates returning to the kitchen are testament to this). However please try and leave some room to try Maria’s homemade desserts. They are out of this world (especially the cheesecake – just thinking about it is making my mouth water!!)
Most of all the price of the food and drink are exceptionally good value for money.
We would recommend (and have and still do) anyone visiting Cyprus to visit this restaurant and try it. You will not be disappointed.

Paralimni Lawyers – Studies – Cyprus weather conditions – completed on 21st June 2010 – Lawyers in Paralimni
Cyprus has seen some strange weather recently and there is a lot more to come over the next few years.
After extensive analyzing and review of the weather pattern in Cyprus over the recent years, weather professionals found that we are now going to suffer from even hotter days and longer heat waves, due to the state of environmental and climate issues.
Each and every year the temperature is rising and at an accelerated rate. This is not just a Cyprus problem this is a global problem.
The current temperature for this time of year is the highest recorded as yet, with warnings of it getting hotter not just this summer but year on year.
The impact of rising temperatures will have a very serious effect on our island especially as rainfall is decreasing year on year also. Our beautiful island of Cyprus could very well see major drought conditions in the very near future. And this is something we must avoid at all costs.
We must find ways to conserve water and energy. Opinions of increasing water bills are a hot topic at the moment as it is hoped this will deter individuals from wasting water and only using for necessities.
The government must standardise and force in to action energy and water saving regulations and we as a whole must start taking this seriously. We have the proof the planet is suffering and will continue to if we carry on not caring.

Review – Dangers of Swimming pools – completed on 26th June 2010 – Cypriot Lawyers
We wanted to do a little something different when creating our lawyers website. So we centred our website not only on advising about the law, but to keep our readers informed on all subjects we feel are important and what they feel are important.
We have had another article request asking us to make the public aware of the dangers that swimming pools can have.
Many people are not aware of the dangers that exist with regards to public pools.
If a pool does not receive adequate cleansing and the exact amount of chemicals, diseases can linger in the pools that can actually kill you.
The most deadliest disease being Cryptosporidium. Pools must be checked on a daily basis for chlorine levels to help disinfect and the PH balance should also be checked for the comfort of the swimmers.
Contrary to belief, when a swimmer comes out of the pool with soar eyes it is due to low PH balance, which means the water is more acidic and this is not good! Infections can become apparent such as ear infections, stomach infections and sickness within two days of entering a pool and this is due to the lack of disinfectant.
It is very wise and within your legal rights, if visiting a public swimming pool at home or abroad to ask to see the daily test for chlorine levels. A minimum chlorine level is 1ppm. This is what should show on their daily reports.
It is legally the owner of the pool, sole responsibility to make sure the pool is in a correct and healthy state, and even if contractors are brought in to clean the owner will still be solely liable for any claims brought forward.
We wanted to inform you and make you aware of the dangers of these wonderful and very inviting swimming pools. It is always better to be safe.

A&G Kouzali Cyprus Law Firm – Analyze credit card facilities – completed on 24th June 2010 – Cyprus Law Firm
We have had an article request from a gentleman who recently visited Cyprus all the way from the USA.
After touring our beautiful island, and visiting many tourists’ places in areas such as Agia Napa, Protaras and Pernera, he found that that very few places accepted credit cards or debit cards. Now in the USA for example this is the norm, nobody carries cash.
In this economic crisis is this a very big mistake on our part? Many of these tourists’ places are losing revenue due to lack of credit card facilities.
After we reviewed this issue we found there is a charge to the proprietor for the usage of credit card facilities of approximately 7%, however this can be easily overcome by setting a minimum credit card limit.
We have to remember that in this economy many people are using credit cards as instant cash is not so readily available. Not only that but it is more convenient that having to keep going to draw money from a cash point machine or the bank.
So why are we not accommodating this area in the tourist sector? Should we not be doing all we can to obtain revenue from tourists who are happy to pay by credit card. Money is money whether it be cash or card and money keeps our island alive and running.
Come on Cyprus, credit cards are the present and the ongoing future, especially now in these uncertain times of financial unrest. If we want to keep our businesses, we must offer all possible facilities for taking payments.
To the gentleman who was very disappointed by the lack of card facilities, we apologise and hope next time Cyprus can accommodate you, at least we will try!

Cyprus Property lawyers – Review – Qatar and Cyprus deal – Completed on 26th June 2010 – Property Lawyers in Cyprus
Cyprus has joined forces with Qatar Emirate and agreements have been made to develop a huge luxury project in Nicosia the capital of Cyprus. The project itself will comprise a luxury 5*hotel accompanied by residential property and leisure and business centre.
The fact that the Qatar Royal family has agreed to invest in our island shows the world that we are a solid financial state and the scope for investment from this type of source is limitless.
This will definitely make others look to Cyprus as investment destination and open the doors to many other countries that have the financial means to make our island a top financial zone and vice versa.
This is a new venture and a new era for financial business in Cyprus and we feel it is a positive move for Cyprus Properties and Cyprus Investment, and opens us up to the world.
The project is said to cost more than 500 Million Euros and both countries have invested equal shares. The government are trying to pass all the required procedures so that building can get stared straight way. Qatar officials will govern the project as they have extensive experience in this area and it is hoped that the project will bring in major foreign business.
Qatar is also looking to invest in another luxury golfing development in the Agia Napa region but this has been kept behind closed doors to be able to concentrate on the current agreement but things are definitely looking up.
Qatar has seen the potential in Cyprus and now we do not have to rely on the European property markets to keep us a float, it is only a matter of time before other sources from places we would never have dreamed of also see the potential in Cyprus.

Lawyers in Paralimni – Studies – Cyprus Coastal Waters – Completed on 13th June 2010 – Paralimni Lawyers
We are very happy and proud to announce that our coastal and inland bathing waters have been tested and scored top marks for cleanliness.
The EU sets certain standards and we have exceeded their standards. This is very good news for Cyprus, especially for the Famagusta district.
“Our beautiful coastal waters are now labelled the cleanest in Europe and this is certainly an achievement to be proud of and definitely an attraction for tourists”.
The study was undertaken over a 6 month period through the summer season of 2009, and tested for various chemical and biological elements, of which it was found the waters are of the highest quality. Great efforts have been put in to the water issues in Cyprus and it is good to see the hard work has paid off.
However, water is an ongoing issue that we must all pull together and make huge efforts not only to help the environment, but also to keep our island a paradise to all visitors.
Well done and let us all join in keeping up the good work. This is another fantastic achievement for Cyprus and just one of many reasons why Cyprus is back on top again for overseas holiday makers and investors.
To find out more information on this issue and how we can improve our coastal and inland waters further visit the European Environment Agency website.

Legal Consultants in Cyprus – Review – EU fines for Carbon Emissions – Completed on 20th June 2010 – Cyprus Legal Consultants
In a bid to pay the European Union’s carbon emission penalty, the Cyprus government will increase all citizens’ electric utility bills.
We have, over recent years, seen our electric bills increase to an all time high and now they are set to rise even further to pay the EU.
At the same time many state funding applications made by businesses for renewable energy resources’ and energy saving products are being turned down.
The public will pay carbon emission fines, yet there are no funds available to help reduce carbon emissions. Come on Cyprus what is going on? Why are innocent victims paying for all of this? Why are Cyprus Property Investors to be held liable for this?
Cyprus is well behind with regards to carbon emission issues in accordance with the EU and there is no strategic plan in place to help find the funding for renewable energy resources or energy saving products. So will the public pay out for this also? We have yet to see!
Would it not be more beneficial to use the money paid in fines towards the progression of reducing carbon emissions.
How can we possibly achieve this goal if we are getting fined also? Why do we have to pay these fines when this is a worldwide goal to save the planet?
The public we feel would gladly put their hand in their pockets and hand money over for the resources to reduce carbon emissions but to pay the EU fines is another matter entirely.
