On 21st June, the Minthis Hills Junior Golf Open took place for children aged between 6 and 17 years old, sponsored by Pafilia. With 73 entrants representing 8 different golf clubs around Cyprus and 10 nationalities, registration had to be closed a month before the event due to oversubscription. The overall winner of the Open was James Hewitt (14 years old) from the Joint Services Golf Club, with a further 4 competitions taking place (the full list of winners can be found below).
Evangelia Eliadou, executive director of Pafilia Property Developers the sponsors of the Open and the driving force behind Minthis Hills, commented, “We are very proud to be associated with the Junior Open, as it is where the grass roots of the game develops and it is our future. This year half the entries were Cypriot, demonstrating an increased interest domestically in golf. This is very promising and we hope one day, at Pafilia, to see some of our junior academy members playing in a major competition.”
According to Terry Scott, the CGR Junior Title, “This is the second year that Pafilia has sponsored the event. We are very grateful for all their support. The Junior Academy at Minthis Hills has been running now for 4 years in its current form, using the “The Junior Golf Passport Scheme” by The Golf Foundation. This has proven extremely successful and the quality of the childrens’ golf since last year’s open has improved dramatically.”
Stelios Patselides, general manager of Cyprus Golf Resorts who manage Minthis Hills Golf Course, added, “Both Terry Scott and Paul Dyer our pro have worked very hard to develop our Junior academy. For me, it was a pleasure to see so many children excited about the game and about playing at Minthis Hills. We believe the changes Pafilia has already made to the course make it even more enjoyable to play and the further enhancements Pafilia is planning will take it even further.”

About Minthis Hills
Opened in 1994, Minthis Hills (formerly Tsada Golf Course) is a par 71 golf course designed in 2 loops of nine with a course length of 6,550 yards or 5828 metres. It will also be one of the most distinctive and attractive residential resorts in the Mediterranean, redefining luxury living in Cyprus. Located in the rolling hills of Tsada village, between Pafos and Polis, Minthis Hills offers a haven of peace and tranquillity; a private retreat inspired by nature and breathtaking panoramic views. The exquisite homes, designed by world renowned architect Woods Bagot, are a modern expression of traditional Cypriot mountain living that blend into the natural contours of the land. Life at Minthis Hills offers complete escapism, but not isolation; unrivalled on-site facilities will include the recently upgraded 18 hole championship golf course, a spa, several restaurants and shops, with the thriving coastal town of Pafos, where you can find virtually anything you desire, including fine dining and concerts only 15 minutes away. This will be complemented by the highest levels of service, enabling owners to relax in the knowledge that everything will be taken care of for them.
The development will span across 5 million square metres, equivalent to 1200 football pitches, or 3.5 times the size of Hyde Park. This means just 2% will be built on and those buying there will be surrounded by open spaces, panoramic views of the mountains, sea or golf and will almost be unaware of any neighbours.
There are currently 9 villa types, including 3 and 4 bedroom villas, 3 bedroom bungalows and a one bedroom guesthouse that can be combined with any of the other designs. Property prices will start at around €1 million for the villas, depending on the type and size of plot. Plot sizes range from 1000m2 to 2500m2.
